"Make.com vs claude" is a comparison between a workflow and a mind. Make moves data between apps on a schedule. Claude reads, judges and writes when asked. People search the pair because both are sold as "automate your work", and the useful answer is that they automate different halves of it.

What each one is

Make is a visual automation platform: scenarios built from triggers, app modules, routers, filters and error handlers, running on schedules or events. Our review rates it 4.4 and calls it the best pick for complex, high-volume automations where Zapier's per-task pricing gets expensive.

Claude is Anthropic's assistant, rated 4.6 in our review for careful reasoning, long context and writing, with Claude Code, the terminal agent, included on paid plans.

Price

Make, per its pricing page: Free with 1,000 credits a month, two active scenarios, multi-step scenarios with branching and a 15-minute minimum interval; Core at $9 a month for 5,000 credits with a one-minute interval and no cap on active scenarios; higher tiers on a slider. Credits are consumed per module, so a ten-step scenario costs about ten credits a run.

Claude, per its pricing page: Free; Pro at $20 a month or $17 billed annually as $200 up front; Max from $100; Team seats from $20. Usage resets on a rolling five-hour window.

What Make does that Claude cannot

Run without you. A scenario fires when a form is submitted, a row is added, an email arrives or a clock ticks, and then does its ten steps across five apps, every time, logging each run. Claude has no trigger, no schedule and no app catalogue; it works when someone, or something, asks it to. For the class of problem "every time X happens, do Y", Make is the tool and Claude is not a candidate.

What Claude does that Make cannot

Judge. A Make scenario can route on a field value; it cannot read a 40-page contract and decide whether the indemnity clause is unusual. Claude can, and can write the summary, the reply and the code that automates the next step. Our review's strengths are exactly these: long-document analysis, careful technical writing, coding.

Together

The practical architecture is Make for the process and Claude for the steps that need thought. Make's Pro plan accepts your own model key, per our review, and Maia builds scenarios from a description. A support-ticket scenario might trigger on a new email, send the text to Claude for classification and a draft reply, route by the classification, and post the draft for a human. Make does the moving; Claude does the reading.

For developers, Claude Code is the other route: a script that calls Claude and runs on a schedule you set up yourself. That replaces Make for people who can write and host the script, and not for anyone else.

Metering

Make counts credits per module per run, so long scenarios cost more; our review lists this as its main drawback. Claude counts usage in a rolling five-hour window. Neither is unlimited, and a scenario that calls Claude on every run will consume both.

Where each one is weak

Make's weaknesses, per our review, are the learning curve of its visual canvas, a smaller app catalogue than Zapier's, and the free plan's 15-minute wait between runs. Claude's, per ours, are the absence of image generation, the rolling five-hour usage window, and a context window that is not published per plan. None of these overlap, which is the clearest sign the two tools are not substitutes.

Cost of calling Claude from Make

A scenario that sends every record to a model pays twice: a Make credit for the module and whatever the model call costs. Make's Pro plan accepts your own model key, so the model cost is billed by the model vendor at API rates rather than through Make. For a few hundred runs a month that is pocket change; for tens of thousands it is the dominant cost, and the design question becomes which records actually need judgement.

Re-check before you buy

Both pricing pages were read on 12 October 2026. Make's lists Free and Core with a slider above; Claude's lists Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise.

Who should pick which

Pick Make if the problem is a process between apps. It is our winner for the question as searched.

Pick Claude if the problem is reasoning, writing or code, and call it from Make when the process needs it.

For Make against its rivals see Make vs Zapier and Make vs n8n. For Claude against the other assistants, ChatGPT vs Claude. The ranked list is at best AI automation tools.

Verdict: Make wins

Make wins the question as searched, because 'make.com vs claude' is from someone who needs a process to run on its own, and Claude has no triggers, schedules or app connectors of its own. Choose Claude if the hard part is judgement rather than plumbing, and plan to call it from Make, or from Claude Code, when the process needs a brain.

Frequently asked questions

Can Claude replace Make?+

Not for unattended automation. Claude has no triggers, schedules or app connectors that run a process while you sleep. Claude Code can be scripted to do repeatable work, but that is a developer's tool. For 'when a form is submitted, do these five things', Make.

Can Make use Claude?+

Yes. Make calls AI models as steps in a scenario, and its Pro plan accepts your own model key, per our Make review. Our review also notes Maia, Make's assistant that builds automations conversationally. A Make scenario can send a document to Claude and route on the answer.

Is Make free?+

Yes. Make's pricing page lists a free plan with 1,000 credits a month, two active scenarios, multi-step scenarios with branching, and a 15-minute minimum interval between runs. Core is $9 a month for 5,000 credits.

Is Claude free?+

Yes, for everyday chat with daily limits. Pro is $20 a month, or $17 billed annually, and adds higher limits, Projects and Claude Code, per Claude's pricing page.

Which should a small business learn first?+

Make, if the problem is a repetitive process between apps. Claude, if the problem is reading, writing or deciding. Most businesses have both problems, and the common end state is Make running the process with Claude as one step in it.
