AI Subscription Price in India: Who Charges in Rupees
Only 20 of 68 AI tools show visitors in India a rupee price, BestAI found by opening each pricing page from a Jio connection on 24 October 2026. ChatGPT Go and Google AI Plus cost ₹399 a month, while Claude, Perplexity and Cursor bill in US dollars.

An AI subscription price in India shown in dollars is not just a different symbol. Your bank converts the amount at its own rate, many cards add a fee for foreign-currency payments, and a new card can't pay a foreign website at all until you switch international use on. Under the Reserve Bank of India's 2020 card-security rules, new cards work only at ATMs and shops in India until the holder enables online and international transactions.
So we checked which tools actually show rupees. On 24 October 2026 we opened the public pricing page of 68 AI tools from a Reliance Jio connection in Ahmedabad and recorded what an Indian visitor sees: the currency, the cheapest paid plan, and any line about tax. The full table, with a source link for every row, is in the BestAI India AI tool price index.

Which AI tools charge in rupees in India?

| Wix | Light, ₹250/month | Yearly |
| Framer | Basic, ₹361/month | Not stated |

Which popular AI tools still bill Indians in dollars?
Forty-two tools showed US dollars, and two more (AIVA and n8n) showed euros. Some of the most-used names are on this side of the line.
| Tool | Cheapest paid plan shown in India |
|---|---|
| Claude | Pro, $17/month billed yearly ($20 billed monthly) |
| Perplexity | Pro, US$17/month billed yearly |
| Cursor | Plus, $8/month (Grok models only) |
| GitHub Copilot | Pro, $10/month |
| Midjourney | Basic, $10/month |
| ElevenLabs | Starter, $6/month |
| Runway | Standard, $12/month billed yearly |
| HeyGen | Creator, $29/month |
HeyGen is the odd case: even its India edition page (heygen.com/en-in) lists dollars. A dollar price is not a sign that a tool blocks Indian users. It means the card you pay with needs international payments switched on, and the rupee amount on your statement depends on your bank's rate and fees on the day you are charged.
ChatGPT or Gemini: what does ₹399 a month get you?
The two biggest assistants meet at exactly the same entry price in India. ChatGPT Go is ₹399 a month and Google AI Plus is ₹399 a month, both billed monthly. One step up, ChatGPT Plus is ₹1,999 and Google AI Pro is ₹1,950.
At ₹399 the choice comes down to where you work, not price. Google's plan includes 400 GB of storage according to its plans page, which matters if you already live in Gmail and Google Drive. ChatGPT Go is the simpler buy if you only want the assistant. Our ChatGPT vs Gemini comparison covers the features side.
Are there India-only plans or discounts?
Two of the 68 pages showed something meant only for Indian buyers:
- Grammarly: a rupee Plus plan at ₹392 per member a month, billed yearly, labelled on the page as "New plan, exclusive to India" and available only through local payment methods.
- Otter.ai: Pro at $4.17 per user a month instead of $8.33, but only with an India-issued card and only for first-time subscribers. The price is still in dollars.
We found no telecom bundle or India discount on any other page. Bundles such as mobile-operator offers are sold through the operator, so a pricing page won't show them.
Does the AI subscription price in India include GST?
Only three of the 68 pages mention GST by name. Adobe shows Firefly prices "incl. GST", Indian Kanoon's Prism lists "+ 18% GST", and v0 says its dollar prices "exclude" GST. Another 15 mention tax without naming GST, mostly to say it is excluded or added at checkout.
In practice, the price on most pricing pages is not the amount that leaves your account. If a page says tax is extra, expect the checkout total to be higher than the listed figure, and check the final screen before you confirm.
Why do Indian legal AI tools all price in rupees?
All six Indian legal-tech tools we checked show rupee prices, from Legal Desk AI at ₹99 a month to CaseMine at ₹1,999 a month. They are built for Indian advocates, sell to Indian buyers and publish prices in the currency those buyers pay in. It is the clearest pattern in the data: the tools made for India price for India, while global tools mostly don't, with the big exceptions above.
How we checked, and what this data can't tell you
- We loaded each tool's public pricing page from a Reliance Jio connection in Ahmedabad on 24 October 2026, in an automated browser and, for pages that hid prices from it, in a normal Chrome window.
- For every price we kept the exact page text it came from. Where a page showed no prices, we used the vendor's own help pages and say so in the index.
- We did not sign in, enter payment details or go through checkout. App-store prices, prices after sign-in and coupons can differ.
- Prices change often. Each row in the index carries its check date, and you can download the full data as CSV and reuse it with a link to the index.
What to do before you pay for an AI tool in India
- Check the currency on the pricing page while you are in India, not a price quoted in an article or video.
- For a dollar price, switch on international online payments for your card in your bank's app, and look up your card's foreign-currency fee.
- Compare the annual and monthly figures: several rupee prices above are monthly equivalents of a yearly charge.
