In July 2025, Airtel offered all its customers a year of Perplexity Pro free, a plan Airtel's press release valued at ₹17,000. Customers claimed it through the Airtel Thanks app. Those free years are now ending one by one, and the people who claimed late in the offer are next.

Here is when yours ends, why you may be charged afterwards, and how to cancel without losing the months you have left.

When does my Airtel Perplexity Pro free year end?

Twelve months after the day you redeemed it, not on one date for everyone. Airtel announced the offer on 17 July 2025, and Perplexity's help centre says it ended on 16 January 2026. So free years run out between mid-July 2026 and mid-January 2027. If you claimed between November 2025 and mid-January 2026, yours ends within the next three months.

Customers who claimed before the cut-off keep their full 12 months, TelecomTalk reported when the offer closed. To see your exact date, open Perplexity on the web, go to Account settings, and look under Your subscription.

Will I be charged after the Airtel free year?

Plan for it. Two things on Perplexity's own pages point that way:

  1. Claiming the Airtel offer required a card. Perplexity's eligibility rules say: "You must provide a credit card to redeem the offer. You will not be charged during the promotional period."
  2. Perplexity's cancellation page says that if you do not set your subscription to cancel at the end of your cycle, "it will continue to renew".

Perplexity does not spell out on the Airtel page which paid plan the promotion rolls into, so check the renewal date and amount under Your subscription before deciding. For reference, when we checked Perplexity's pricing page from India on 24 October 2026, Pro was listed at US$17 a month on yearly billing, in US dollars rather than rupees. A dollar charge goes through your card's international payments, and your bank may add a foreign-currency fee. Current prices are in our India AI tool price index.

How do I cancel Airtel Perplexity Pro auto-renewal?

Cancelling now costs you nothing. Perplexity says you can cancel at any time and your account switches to the free version only "after the end of the current billing cycle", so you keep Pro for the rest of your free year.

On the web (how most Airtel users signed up): follow the steps in Perplexity's billing FAQ:

  1. Go to Account settings on perplexity.ai.
  2. Under Your subscription, click Manage.
  3. Open the Manage drop-down and select Cancel subscription.

If you paid for Pro through the App Store or Google Play before claiming Airtel's offer, that store controls billing, and the cancel option won't appear in Perplexity's settings:

  • iPhone: App Store → your profile icon → Subscriptions → Perplexity - Ask Anything → Cancel subscription.
  • Android: Google Play → settings → Payments & Subscriptions → Perplexity - Ask Anything → Cancel subscription.

Two things not to do. Don't delete your Perplexity account instead of cancelling: Perplexity says deleting an account "will not terminate your subscription". After cancelling, open Your subscription again to confirm the plan shows it will end.

I've already been charged. Can I get a refund?

Possibly, but the window is short. Outside the EU, UK, Turkey, South Korea and Brazil, Perplexity's refund policy gives a full refund on an annual plan within 72 hours of the charge, with "no exceptions for requests after this period", and on a monthly plan within 24 hours.

To request it on the web, go to perplexity.ai/pro, choose Manage Subscription, then Cancel Plan; the refund option appears with the cancellation. If you don't see it, use Help → Contact Support. Perplexity says it can't process a second refund request after granting one.

Is Perplexity Pro worth paying for in India?

For most people, no. Perplexity's free version keeps working after Pro ends, and the paid alternatives are cheaper in rupees: ChatGPT Go and Google AI Plus both cost ₹399 a month, billed in rupees with no foreign-currency fee, according to our AI subscription price in India report.

Pro earns its dollar price if research with cited sources is your daily work: students writing papers, analysts, journalists. If you mostly used it as a smarter Google, the free tier or a ₹399 plan will cover you.
