"Gamma vs claude" is a search from someone with a deadline and two tabs open. One tab writes anything; the other makes slides. They are not rivals, and the fastest route to a good presentation uses both, in a specific order.
What each one is
Claude is Anthropic's assistant, rated 4.6 in our review for careful reasoning, long-document work and writing. Projects hold the source documents; Claude turns them into an argument.
Gamma turns a prompt or an outline into a designed presentation, document or webpage, handling layout, imagery and formatting, then lets you edit the result or restyle it. Our review rates it 4.4 and notes the free credits are a one-time allowance.
Price
Claude, per its pricing page: Free with daily limits; Pro at $20 a month or $17 billed annually as $200 up front; Max from $100; Team seats from $20.
Gamma, per its pricing page: Free with 400 starter credits that do not refill, decks up to 10 cards and the Gamma badge; Plus at $108 a year with 1,000 credits a month, up to 100 cards and no badge; Pro at $216 a year with 4,000 credits and analytics; Ultra at $1,080 a year.
Gamma's paid plan is cheaper. Claude's free plan is the one that keeps working.
What the deck says
A presentation is an argument with pictures. Claude is built for the argument: feed it the quarterly numbers, the customer interviews and last year's deck, and it produces a structure, the three points that matter, the slide-by-slide text and the speaker notes. Our review's strengths, long-document analysis and careful writing, are exactly this job.
Gamma generates text too, from the prompt it is given, and a rival vendor's test found its copy fuller than some competitors'. But it is writing from your sentence, not from your data. A vague prompt yields a pretty deck that says little.
How the deck looks
Gamma's job. Paste the outline and it lays out every slide with a theme, imagery and spacing, in minutes, then exports to PDF, PPTX or Google Slides. Claude does not design; it can produce basic files, but the result needs a slide tool to look like anything.
The workflow
Draft in Claude, build in Gamma. Give Claude the sources and ask for a ten-slide outline with a headline and three bullets per slide. Paste that into Gamma as the outline. Edit the result. Total cost on free tiers: nothing, until Gamma's 400 credits run out.
Credits against windows
Gamma's free credits never refill; once spent, you pay $108 a year or earn credits by referral. Claude's free limits refresh daily. For an occasional presenter, Claude free plus a paid Gamma plan when needed is the cheapest combination; for a weekly presenter, Gamma Plus is the obvious purchase.
Documents and webpages
Gamma's output is not only slides. The same outline becomes a document or a one-page site, which covers the internal update that nobody will present. Claude writes documents natively and at greater length, but does not lay them out; for a document that must look designed, Gamma; for one that must be right, Claude.
Analytics and sharing
Gamma Pro adds detailed analytics and advanced sharing, so you can see who opened the deck and how far they read. Claude has nothing comparable; it is not a publishing tool. For a sales deck sent to a prospect, that analytics tier is the feature that justifies Gamma Pro over Plus.
Where each one is weak
Our Gamma review's caveats are the one-time free credits, less granular design control than PowerPoint or Figma, and a fit for simpler decks over highly custom ones. Our Claude review's are no image generation, the five-hour usage window and an unpublished per-plan context window. The lists do not overlap.
Re-check before you buy
Both pricing pages were read on 12 October 2026. Gamma's shows annual prices per seat with monthly behind a toggle; Claude's shows monthly and annual rates.
Who should pick which
Pick Gamma if you need designed slides. It is our winner for the question as asked.
Pick Claude if the work is what the deck argues, and use Gamma to render it.

Verdict: Gamma wins
Gamma wins the question as searched, because 'gamma vs claude' is asked by someone who needs slides on screen, and Gamma produces designed slides while Claude produces text and basic files. Choose Claude if the hard part is what the deck says, not how it looks, or if you already pay for Claude and want the outline before you open Gamma.
Frequently asked questions
Can Claude make a presentation?+
It can write one: the structure, the slide text, the speaker notes, and it can produce basic files you then open in a slide tool. It does not design slides with layouts, themes and imagery. For the designed deck, Gamma or a slide editor is the next step.
Is Gamma free?+
Partly. Gamma's pricing page gives new accounts 400 credits that do not refill, with decks up to 10 cards and the Gamma badge on output. Plus is $108 a year with 1,000 credits a month and no badge; Pro is $216 a year with 4,000 credits.
Is Claude free?+
Yes, for everyday chat with daily limits that refresh. Pro is $20 a month, or $17 billed annually, per Claude's pricing page.
Which is better for a pitch deck?+
Both, in order. Claude to work out the argument, the numbers and the narrative from your documents; Gamma to turn that outline into slides that look designed. Starting in Gamma with a vague prompt produces a pretty deck that says little.
Does Gamma use Claude?+
Gamma's pricing page refers to standard and Ultra-tier AI models without naming the vendor, so we cannot say which model writes its content. If the quality of the writing matters, draft it in Claude and paste the outline in.
